Race: Utah State Indoor Track Meet (1 Miles) 00:04:53

First Indoor meet of the season! Wasn't sure how I was going to do because I hadn't been back training very long and not much speed. Warmed up a mile and a half outside then me, Stewart, Nathan, and Collin ran the 4x800 meter relay.  I ran the third leg and started out very fast. Then I started to feel the effects and backed off a bit. Ran my last lap hard and finished in a 2:12, a new PR. I rested for a couple of hours and then warmed up once again with the guys, and Thomas and Riley were now there) this time for the mile. I was feeling tired from the 800 at the start but then settled into the pace. I was in about 6th or so, for the majority of the race. Thomas was pretty close to me. We came around the 800 in 2:29 and picked it up the last half. I had a solid kick and finished in 4:53, pretty good for the first one of the season. Ran a two mile cool down with Thomas, Maddy, Garek and some others on East.

Ran a mile warm up and then went inside for a lifting workout. Then ran 9 to finish at 10. I was recovering from Utah State so it wasn't too fast.

6x800 meter repeats on the track. I got 2:36, 2:36, 2:36, 2:32, 2:35, 2:30. They were supposed to be faster but it was really cold. Then we finished up the rest of our mileage, definitely at recovery pace for me.

Pick ups on the road today. We had 5,4,3,2,1 minute intervals with three minutes active rest in between each one. My legs were tired from earlier in the week so I was at the back of the pack. When we were on, it was pretty fast, but it was really slow during the rest and on the way back to the high school. All together 7:19 pace.

Ran by myself today. It was totally clear and sunny so I felt good. I ran up killers hill and even though it's tough, it feels good to get in some hills. Started out with 6:40's and then hit some downhill and had a 6:33. I started feeling it in my legs toward the end, overall pace 6:42. I'm super excited to see what I can do a week from now at byu!

Didn't feel that great today. My knees were hurting and I had a side ache for a little while, I stopped a lot. I ran on the Murdock canal trail and went out too far. Coming back about a half mile from the high school I saw my boy @justusfitz and he drove me the rest of the way. Average pace 7:01 mile

Mile warm up then speed workout. 400, 600, 200 at goal indoor mile pace. I said this was 4:40. Thirty seconds rest in between 4 and 6 and one minute between 6 and 2. Do that twice with a half mile jog between sets as recovery. My first set was good. 69 400. The first lap of my 600 was slow in 75, I didn't get a total time on the 600's. The 200 was fine, I didn't get a time for it either. The second set was awesome though. I got 67 on the 400. My first lap in the 600 was 70, and we kept that pace for the rest of the way. Then we raced the 200. The main part of this workout was to hit the 600 right on, to help on the middle laps of the mile. We were slow the first set, but on the second when we were even more tired we hit it rigt on! I felt really good for the workout, I wore my spikes for the second set. After we had about 6 more miles and once I started this my knee and my hamstring were hurting so I went really slow.

Shout out to my boy Garek from East, he put me in his favorite blogs and he is going to kill it at byu this weekend

Did a nice 10 mile run today with Team Pre. We ran to the Timpanogos temple and back, average pace around 6:50. I felt really good today, normally the pace falls off towards the end of the longer runs but today on the way back I had 6:38, 6:43, 6:49, 6:42 even after the speed workout yesterday. I'm running the mile and 800 at the byu indoor meet this saturday so that will be fun. OH and I went to spike night at #runnerscorner and got some sweet new balance spikes, the MLD5000D's so excited!

Shout out to my boy Bo Farrer from Timpanogos because it was his birthday yesterday.

Race: BYU indoor track meet (1 Miles) 00:04:44, Place overall: 21

Today I ran the mile and the 800 at the byu indoor invitational. I didn't get a chance to warm up for the mile because I got there late, so I did the best I could to stay loose and just told myself to go out and do the best I could. I lead the first lap, and that was a really weird feeling because till sophomore year a big struggle for me was getting a good start. But after the first lap the faster guys took the reins and I fell all the way back to like 7th lol. I settled down into a good pace and the race went by surprisingly fast. The last 200 I had a good kick and passed three guys. I came across in 4:44 which is funny because that is the exact time I signed up with. Before I ran I thought I should have put in a slower time, but I ended up getting it and I'm way happy because its only 4 seconds off a pr and indoor just started.

After a few hours of recovery I did the 800. My legs felt like jello so I was not sure how this was gonna go. I was seeded last and I was tired so I just stuck at the back of the pack the majority of the race and kicked hard at the end. I got 2:10, which is awesome because I haven't been training long, I had already run the mile, and I ran 10 miles the day before so I feel very excited for the rest of the season.

Shout out to my boys Adam Jensen, Thomas Heaps, and Garek Beiklyahy (or something like that). Adam was in my heat of the mile and 800 and he beat me by a pretty good margin in both! Thomas was in an alright position in thelast lap of the mile but had a nice kick to pass a few people and end with a 4:47, but nobody could get even close to the kick of GAREK B!!!!!!! After already running a 4:28 he was running the 800, and he was in 9th place with one lap to go. He turned it to cruise control and passed 5 guys finishing in 4th place in the final heat! finishing in a 2:02! A FREAKING 2:02! Oh and we have just recieved breaking news.........Garek has in fact won the 2 mile in a time of 9:52, what can this kid not do! Garek you are my idol. Oh and shout out to Kaysha Love who won the 60 meter dash just for me, and to Lucy Biles who I beat her 800 pr today, ya thats right Lucy.

5x500's. Run 400 at goal indoor 800 meter pace. Then sprint the last hundred meters. My times for the 400's were 67, 65, 65, 68, 61. Then finished our mileage at recovery pace. This Friday I will be running the 4x800 relay at the Olympic ice oval, I'll be doing one more event, I haven't decided what yet.

Pre meet because I'm running the 4x800 tomorrow. 3 strides, then 2x200's. I got 30 both times. Then we finished up the distance at about 7:20 pace. My legs didn't feel the greatest, but I'll ice bath and see what happens. After all I did run 10 miles the day before byu, had ice cream for dinner, and got no warm up and I got 4:44 so this gives me hope.

Did 5 miles after school to loosen up, then about 8:00 got up to the Ice Oval. I ran the 4x800 meter relay. Sean said on the list he looked at that we were ranked 4th, which is accurate. But when they gave us hip numbers they had us at 19th. Then there were too many teams to go in one heat so they split it. Well heat one, they put in the faster teams. And since we were ranked 19th we got put in heat two. I was dissapointed because we were going for the win and now we couldn't see what place we would be in. So Ogden won the first heat in 8:21. So we said win this heat, and then get as fast as possible. Collin started off and he ran great. He got a 2:07 split and got me the baton in second place, about 5 seconds off the leader. And earlier in the day collin had run a personal best 4:43 mile! I started off at an ok pace and just tried to keep making ground on the kid. It was a team from Wyoming. I did keep making ground and on my final kick I got Dylan the baton right behind the leader. My dad and jamie had me at a 2:06. I felt really good, I'm way excited about these 800 pr's, now i can have more speed for the mile. Dylan paced off the guy for about a lap and then had an amazing kick. The kid started to die off, so in just the last hundred meters it seemed like dylan made 5 seconds on him. We had dylan at about a 2:04. Sean got it and took off. He was all alone now and was just trying to beat Ogden's time. Well Sean got a 2:03 split and came across in 8:21! So we are wondering what place we got, but its late so we all leave except for sean, because his dad was helping with the results or something. When I got home I got a text from Sean saying that we got second place to Ogden by 1 thousandth of a second! Qualifying time for simplot is 8:24 so we might go run it at simplot! I cooled down about a mile after around the track. I am running the 2mile tomorrow. Hopefully I can break 10.

Today was awesome! Even after running a pr in the 800 yesterday I had a great race and unoffically got 9:51 in the two mile. I had a side ache in the warm up and we warmed up WAY too early, I had to stand around for an hour after we warmed up. But I got out ok, in about 8th place. I was in the second fastest heat. It was perfect because I wanted to run sub 10 and that was pretty much everybody elses goal, so we were all close. It was strung out a little so I didn't ever get boxed in and the first mile I just cruised and followed the pace of the other guys, we were about 4:54. Then I started to move up the second mile and I found myself feeling really good and in 3rd when the last lap started. I picked it up cuz Frazier from Davis was close, I was at 9:20 with half a lap left so I started kick from there. Kyle Rummens from Woods Cross was a few seconds ahead of me and I wasn't sure if I could catch him, but I caught up to him with about 70 meters to go and was able to have a really strong kick and finish in second place in the heat and get a 9:51 unofficially. Jaden Torgerson the 3A xc state champ won the heat in 9:48. I made a huge mental improvement because what I have done before is start out good but then the guys would pick up the pace in the middle, and I would fall back. I finally made a promise to stay with the pack and it worked out awesome with a 9 second pr.

Shout out to my boy @collinxc (collin morrison) because he killed the third heat of the two mile and got 10:11! A huge pr for him and @dbrickasean for getting a 2:02 in the 800!
