2 mile warm up with a pair of strides. A bunch of sick people were doing the race so it was cool to hang with them on the start line for a little bit. First mile was slight uphill and then some of the downhill by the stadium. 5:29. Was with the Riding Twins and Thom. Second mile was the most downhill 5:12. Went down and got on University Avenue and it was super sick. They had the entire road open and there were people lining both sides cheering. Made a move and seperated from that group. Third mile 5:16. Fourth mile passed two guys and just tried to grind and make up some time on Galen. 5:23. Now we went up the incline to the u turn. Was less than 10 seconds from Galen. Turned right and started the gradual incline to the finish. Fifth mile 5:32. I could see up ahead that you took a right and that we were getting close. One guy said it was just around the corner and give it everything you got. Took his advice and started almost sprinting. Passed Galen and tried to hold on til the finish. Sixth mile 5:35. Sub 5 pace the last .13. According to the clock I came in just before 33 but official time was 33:03. 7th overall and 1st in my age division. Very happy with the race. I felt like I went out hard but not too hard and moved up well through out the race. I loved the course. It is awesome especially running down university. I'm definitely doing this race every year after I get back.

2.5 cooldown. Some with the boys then with Jackie and Emily.

PM: Was at our normal Fourth of July party. Loaded up on food and ice cream then headed out for a night run. Ran over to the High School on main. Took in all the fireworks going off, did a lap on the track and headed back. Wasn't super dark at the start but on the way back there were some sweet fireworks going off. 4.5 miles to get to 15 for the day.

Was getting my safety and emissions done in Orem so on the way back I stopped at PG high and did my run. I attempted to run Molly's. I knew where to go at first and then couldn't completely remember where to go so I had to run up a few hilly streets before finding the right one. I think I had to run up farther to the trail than I did last time because it seemed more difficult to get up to and last time I had even raced an 800 before it.

Got to the top and the view was nice. Then went farther out to add on. It was all down so I had to climb it on the way back. Coming back I started to get really tired and it didn't help it was the middle of the day. Around here I realized it wasn't my best decision doing a trail run the day after racing but whatevs, overall it was a good time.

Wanted to do a track workout so I went over to the high school. Not long into my warm-up I saw Ryan and did 4 miles with him. Haven't seen him in a while so it was nice to catch up. Workout was 6x800 with a lap and 2:30 rest. I was going to try to run them at 2mile pace (2:22) but I quickly realized that I have lost a lot of my track speed. First lap of the first one I was very slow so I pushed hard to catch up and got 2:23. Next one ran more even, didn't push the second lap as much and got 2:26. So I just thought whatever just try and get around there for the rest. Do what you can. So then I got 2:27, 2:27, 2:28, 2:27. Wasn't as fast as I thought it would be but I gave a strong effort and didn't give up in my first track workout in a long time. Cooldown three miles, one backwards on the track then two on the roads to get to 11.5 for the day. Shout out to my mom for coming with and putting in some work today as well. I showed her the spring after and she iced a little bit.

Happy Birthday to my good buddy Dalpal

Got out late, even later than usual because I was lazy and up really late. Went over to run on the MCT. Legs were sore from the workout yesterday. Made sure the first couple miles were very easy and then opened up on the way back. 7:07ap. Achieved my goal of 60+ miles this week, first time this summer. Hopefully I can get even more next week.

Played some basketball with the Lone Peak homies at Jamison's establishment. It was Craik, Zack, Jonas, and I vs Galen, Josh, Baker, and Justin. I feel like I let my team down. Definitely not my best game but don't worry I'll be better next time. H8erz are my motiv8erz @elsie

Forgot to grab my watch but I was running on the mct so I know where all the mile markers are. There's a cold front rn so it wasn't too hot. Felt good and really strong at the end so I did a quick finish. Estimated avg pace is 6:48. After my run went over and got myself a free slurpee.

Failed to mention in my blog yesterday that Clayson Shumway or @runawayshumaway on Twitter was at Jamison's yesterday. He's a fast ex Lone Peak guy. He graduated the same year as Conner McMillan and Kramer Morten and got back from his mission in Arcadia a couple weeks ago. He even remembered me! He told me I had grown a foot since he's been gone and I was like ya #thankspuberty

Went from the Park to main and then over to Olympic Park. Got there at 5.25. Did two barefoot miles there and ran back a shorter way. 6:51ap. Wrestled Big T to make sure everyone knew who was better. Threw him down a couple times. Then hit up 58 cent pancakes at IHOP. 10/10 would recommend.

Shout out to my boy Hell Raiser cuz he left on his mission today. He's going to do amazing things.

PM: As the sun was setting I ran from the HS to the pit, ran a mile there and kinda checked out a course. Did two mile repeats, first was 5:41 and then 5:27. It was getting dark and I was all alone and not a super great attempt. Whatevs. Ran back to the school and did a half mile on the track.

Started with Thomas, Sami, Josh, and the new guy from Cali I think James is his name, but then they split off and it was Dallin and I. We crossed Timp Highway and ran up the path that goes up the mountain that I've wanted to run on since track. Asa and Josh ran on it one time but I had less miles cuz it was around state so I didn't do it. We got up to the top kinda and it curved so we followed it and it kept going and turned into a nice trail. We finished our 4.5 out and turned back. We decided to call it the Jail Trail. Got back and I wanted to do some more miles cuz I thought the night run I was doing tonight was tomorrow for some reason but it's all Gucci. Ran a half mile over to the groval, did a mile barefoot and back.

Happy birthday to my good pal Jericksen

1.75 warm up from the creek to the MCT by Jimmie Johns, where we ran by yesterday. Got a bloody nose that was sick. Once that was taken care of a little more running and strides over to about Josh's house. In honor of BYU camp being this week I did the workout we did each time at Kawanis. 1on/off 2on/off up to 5 and then back down.

1:00-.21 2:01-.39 3:09-.59 4:00-.69 5:02-.90 4:00-.69 3:02-.52 2:01-.39 1:00-.20. Normally you don't take a break after 5 but I did. Did it on Murdock so it would be flat but I forgot about the dip by Smiths so I hit that on the first 4min. After 5 I turned around then went towards Airport. Finished the 1min right in front of Thoms. Jogged a lil and then got water there and finished back to the creek and 12 for the day.

If you add up all of them it was 25:12- 4.58 which is 5:30 mile pace so it was good.

Failed to mention yesterday at Josh's birthday party we played volleyball and because of my insane vertical I spiked it on Emily Ellis and Josh and Zack a bunch of times #rio2016 #screwzika

Met up with Lone Peak at a bright and early 6:30 this morning. We ran Hogs but we didn't do the last big hill :( the group was RyBy, Zack, Justin, Caleb, Seth and I. It was a good tough run. We added on to sliding rock. 10.5 when we got back to the park so I ran a mile out with Justin who was biking home to get to 12.5 for the day. Then I went repelling with Brinn so shout out to her and ole Kev for a good time.

2 mile warm up and some strides. Then did the 1.5 mile race with the guys. The best name they have rn is Skyrim so that's what I'm calling it (everybody else is calling it the kicker lol so dumb) Was sitting behind a couple guys when we came thru a half mile and I felt like we weren't going fast enough. I surged to the front and up the hill by buttscratchs house. Pushed the long hill and felt good. Tryed to push the last half mile, it was all flat so it was kinda hard to pace. Came thru in 7:59. I'm gonna try to run it one more time before I leave cuz I know I can run 5+ seconds faster. Went over to Skyridge and played some soccer then ran back.

Met Garek at Sugarhouse park at East's practice. 1 mile warm up and then we did a light tempo on the old state/highland invite course something like that. Started in a group of 6 and Nate and this other kid stayed up the whole time. Splits were 6:20, 6:21, 6:10. Cooldown with Garek and Nate 3 miles on 15th. Those guys are super chill. Then I went with Alli P to Roxberry and hung for a lil bit. Very fun day.

A couple miles and then some speed changes and strides. We did the 6 minute test one of my favorite workouts. My previous best was 2,045 meters. I wanted to PR and also lead from the gun. First lap came thru in 70. Perf. Second lap came thru in 2:22-2:23 and Collin lead a little bit. Can't remember the 1200 split. I think we came thru the mile in 4:45. Faster than the 4:52 or 53 I came thru last time. Ryan was now leading. He had a couple seconds on me the fifth lap and I never closed it. Came thru 5 laps with 10 seconds left I think. Got 70 meters. Pleased with it. I could have done a better job of fighting more on the fifth lap.

Cooled down some on the grass then towards Smiths and drove back.

Met the mission boys (Asa, Landon, Josh, Spencer) at the creek. We met at 7:30 so Asa could say hey to the other guys but once again we all forgot that they meet at 9 on Fridays. We still gotta see them after the run but it kinda sucked getting up so early and going str8 to run.

We ran over to the rail trail and went out 2.5 to the great divide. Took a break. Had a nice talk then and the whole time really. Came back. We all kinda pushed the pace so it was 6:40ap. I'm really gonna miss running.

I need a day to sleep in. Getting up early pretty much everyday this week was hard. Drove up to salt lake and met Garek at Sugar House. We did a 5 mile loop. He went and did a couple more miles and I stretched and did a couple strides.

After we went to the Orginal Pancake House which was delicious and then went and hung out with State Champ and State record holder thee Courtney Wayment at City Creek. Did some nice shopping. Then we went and had a BYU camp reunion with Aubrey and Ally. We played soccer and let them win.

Stayed at my cousin Bryn's house the night before which is just a couple minutes from the start line so that was nice. About two miles warm up, then stretches and strides and then some more jogging. Very fun to see a bunch of people from lots of different teams.

First mile I ran side by side with Frazier and talked to my boy Dave Taylor for a sec. 4:46. Made a move up to Adam, shortly followed by Seth coming up and we ran in a good pack for two more miles I think. 5:01, 5:13. Ryan then joined the group and it was a 2 on 2 Region 4 showdown. 5:10, 5:10. Seth then dropped, I was very impressed with his race. Towards the end Ryan gapped Adam and I and then I made a surge and gapped Adam and it stayed like that til the finish. My 6th mile was 5:18 and 5:22 pace for the last .22. I wish that was a little stronger but 5:08 pace is a good showing and I am happy with the work I put in because I had these races but I also leave soon so I could have been lazy and made excuses.

After the race I found Garek and we drove over to Park City High School. Cool place. First time there. We went on a run with 2x Nike Nationals qualifier (bae goals) Alyssa Snyder and let me tell you she does not play around. She was running 15 miles. We got there late so she did two before we got there. So she is warmed up and I was super tight and my legs were thrashed from the race and car ride so we start and she blazes out and leaves me in the dust lol. We had to climb this super steep road to get to the trail and it was short but it was the most steep hill I've ever run and I thought I was going to die. The trail was flat but they still ran way faster than me and had to stop and wait for me a couple times. We got off the trail and ran on the rail trail for a lil and looped back to the hs for 7 total. It  was exhausting but it was a super fun time. 16 total for the day. Capped it off by hanging with the bavis dabes and skootz.

Had Vickie Fitz give me my missionary haircut today :'( rip my luscious locks. 9:45 set out on a night run with Spanky and Justin. We met at AF and ran by an Elementary that started with an M I think and then to the legend Tyler Penrods house. He wasn't there but we had a nice convo with his mom. We ran over to discovery and saw these three girls. I told them to follow me on insta. We were over by the drinking fountain for a couple minutes and they yell over Connor Baller I followed you lol. We did a loop around discovery and at the end saw Parker Barnes who used to run for AF. Talked about our upcoming missions. He's going to Lima on August 23rd Mexico MTC cuz Pero is too full. Ran back the way we came. We didn't have super accurate distance watches but I'm 99% sure we ran 6 miles and it was at 6:48ap.

Another thing. My farewell is this Sunday. It starts at 10:30, the address is 267 W Weatherby Dr, Saratoga Springs, UT 84045. Everybody is invited. We will be having food at my house after the meeting.

Went to practice. Started with the guys. Legs were tight but go better as we passed Eaglecrest. I went down by Matts house, cut over to the end of the rail trail. Went up to Timp highway and back, taking a little shorter way back. Last 1.75 was around 6 min pace. Avg 6:50. I was only away from running for two days, but it made me grateful for it. I'm very pleased that I could run thru junior high and high school and never feel like I lost the love of running. I can only imagine how much I'll miss it if I go a couple weeks in between runs which could very well happen. I'll have to start really slow because my legs will be super tight haha.

Got together with Asa, Josh, and Landon and drove over to the Y. We warmed up on the trail they run at the BYU XC camp. I got 4 in. Then we lined up at the gate, started the watches at the same time. I got 1.07 to the Y. It was the hardest freaking mile of my life lol. My mile time was 12:03 (goal next time is to break 12 lol) and total time was 12:48. Whenever it flattened out a little I got to open my stride up more it felt so nice. Hung out at the top. Ran down and did a little over a mile cooldown on the other trail. Good times.

Shout out to my girl Alli P for turning 17 today!
