2 mile warm up with a pair of strides. A bunch of sick people were doing the race so it was cool to hang with them on the start line for a little bit. First mile was slight uphill and then some of the downhill by the stadium. 5:29. Was with the Riding Twins and Thom. Second mile was the most downhill 5:12. Went down and got on University Avenue and it was super sick. They had the entire road open and there were people lining both sides cheering. Made a move and seperated from that group. Third mile 5:16. Fourth mile passed two guys and just tried to grind and make up some time on Galen. 5:23. Now we went up the incline to the u turn. Was less than 10 seconds from Galen. Turned right and started the gradual incline to the finish. Fifth mile 5:32. I could see up ahead that you took a right and that we were getting close. One guy said it was just around the corner and give it everything you got. Took his advice and started almost sprinting. Passed Galen and tried to hold on til the finish. Sixth mile 5:35. Sub 5 pace the last .13. According to the clock I came in just before 33 but official time was 33:03. 7th overall and 1st in my age division. Very happy with the race. I felt like I went out hard but not too hard and moved up well through out the race. I loved the course. It is awesome especially running down university. I'm definitely doing this race every year after I get back.

2.5 cooldown. Some with the boys then with Jackie and Emily.

PM: Was at our normal Fourth of July party. Loaded up on food and ice cream then headed out for a night run. Ran over to the High School on main. Took in all the fireworks going off, did a lap on the track and headed back. Wasn't super dark at the start but on the way back there were some sweet fireworks going off. 4.5 miles to get to 15 for the day.

Was getting my safety and emissions done in Orem so on the way back I stopped at PG high and did my run. I attempted to run Molly's. I knew where to go at first and then couldn't completely remember where to go so I had to run up a few hilly streets before finding the right one. I think I had to run up farther to the trail than I did last time because it seemed more difficult to get up to and last time I had even raced an 800 before it.

Got to the top and the view was nice. Then went farther out to add on. It was all down so I had to climb it on the way back. Coming back I started to get really tired and it didn't help it was the middle of the day. Around here I realized it wasn't my best decision doing a trail run the day after racing but whatevs, overall it was a good time.

Wanted to do a track workout so I went over to the high school. Not long into my warm-up I saw Ryan and did 4 miles with him. Haven't seen him in a while so it was nice to catch up. Workout was 6x800 with a lap and 2:30 rest. I was going to try to run them at 2mile pace (2:22) but I quickly realized that I have lost a lot of my track speed. First lap of the first one I was very slow so I pushed hard to catch up and got 2:23. Next one ran more even, didn't push the second lap as much and got 2:26. So I just thought whatever just try and get around there for the rest. Do what you can. So then I got 2:27, 2:27, 2:28, 2:27. Wasn't as fast as I thought it would be but I gave a strong effort and didn't give up in my first track workout in a long time. Cooldown three miles, one backwards on the track then two on the roads to get to 11.5 for the day. Shout out to my mom for coming with and putting in some work today as well. I showed her the spring after and she iced a little bit.

Happy Birthday to my good buddy Dalpal

Got out late, even later than usual because I was lazy and up really late. Went over to run on the MCT. Legs were sore from the workout yesterday. Made sure the first couple miles were very easy and then opened up on the way back. 7:07ap. Achieved my goal of 60+ miles this week, first time this summer. Hopefully I can get even more next week.
