It was fun tho. Felt strong. The mile at the end was really fun. Really liked how it was just one way, no flipping. My legs were tired but I gave it my best effort to stay with the traveling guys for as long as possible. I stayed with them for two of the 6:0X miles and then hit consistent 6:20-30's. It was dang cold at Rainbow because of the canyon wind but got fine as we moved down the parkway. Until the sun came up and how the temperature drops around that time. Holy shiz. I was running with Zach and all of a sudden everything froze. Not fun haha but good memories. Stopped at the bathroom. Came out and Coach and Frazier had joined up with us. Last mile it felt like someone had attached bricks to my legs haha.
Sat, 12 Oct 2019 06:00:00 Fri, Oct 11, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-11-2019.html
AM: Shakeout run

PM: USU Invite. Best race this season by far. I put myself in a much better position to compete with others compared to the other races. Well I put myself in good position at BYU it was just too good of position and I died... But felt great. Going down the bottom half of the figure 8 the second time an Isaacs army guy passed me but I went with him and after a little while realized that I could even go faster, passed him, and found a second wind. Proud of the mental toughness that I had to go with him. Had a very strong last uphill. From running the course so many times I knew that you could get closer to redlining earlier in the race due to the downhill finish. Gained quite a bit of ground on the uphill. I caught and passed Conner when he had a sizeable gap on me at the start of the lap. Kept on pushing, passing more people. After the little grass u-turn loop section thing I came up on Zach and told him to come with me and started really moving. Finished strong and was suprised to see the clock show 21:48 a 32 second improvement from last year! I finally was able to really push myself mentally which allowed me to push myself physically and have a great race. Landon and Jared were both there so that was pretty sweet to have them be able to watch. We went to Even Steven's after the race. Always a 10/10!
Fri, 11 Oct 2019 06:00:00 Thu, Oct 10, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-10-2019.html
Pre-meet
Thu, 10 Oct 2019 06:00:00 Wed, Oct 09, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-09-2019.html
Pipe
Wed, 09 Oct 2019 06:00:00 Tue, Oct 08, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-08-2019.html
10x400 at Beus
Tue, 08 Oct 2019 06:00:00 Mon, Oct 07, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-07-2019.html
Reverse Upper
Mon, 07 Oct 2019 06:00:00 Sat, Oct 05, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-05-2019.html
South Weber Canal before making crepes :)
Sat, 05 Oct 2019 06:00:00 Fri, Oct 04, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-04-2019.html
Pipe
Fri, 04 Oct 2019 06:00:00 Thu, Oct 03, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-03-2019.html
4x1600, 4x400 at 21st street. We had talked about how the course has rolling hills but we majorly underestimated them. There were two hills that were freaking steep. Like one step below the mutha cussa type steep. Glad I went out conservative, but I still didn't even move up that much. I know don't have lots of training under my belt and have to be realistic but I feel like I'm in shape to be racing faster and runnng faster in workouts and something, I think a lack of mental toughness is holding me back. I'm sick of running like a scrub and need to figure it out.

Long cooldown on the Roosevelt trail. We climbed a pretty tough, long mountain, and had we wanted to keep going up another giant one, we could have went up Chinese Peak. Maybe someday. We took the single track down and it had so many gradual switch-backs going down the mountain. I was very impressed. I wish Enve was like that.

Shout out to Joe for recommending Jeri's Jumbo's Cafe, we ate there after the race and it was 10/10!
Sat, 28 Sep 2019 06:00:00 Fri, Sep 27, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-27-2019.html
AM: Hospital loops and South Ogden neighborhoods

PM: Pipe
Fri, 27 Sep 2019 06:00:00 Thu, Sep 26, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-26-2019.html
Riley Cook fartlek spécial on the grass. 3 sets of 4 min at 5:05avg, 1 min slow jog, 1 min at 4:36avg, 4 min at long-run pace.
Thu, 26 Sep 2019 06:00:00 Wed, Sep 25, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-25-2019.html
End of the World. Right before we cross the golf course we went on Gibs. I don't think I've ever run down right there. Only up it like twice and it's pretty steep. Popped out at Mt Ogden. Ran north on the roads for a bit until you get to the end of the world and then drop down and climb back up by the end of pipe. It was like a sixty-five minute run but for some reason, it felt like we were running for two hours.
Wed, 25 Sep 2019 06:00:00 Tue, Sep 24, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-24-2019.html
10xK at Beus. Longest workout I've done. 3:05 avg. Last few were mentally difficult. I was in the back cuz the other guys were running faster but Coach was fine with 3:05 so I tried to stay positive and just focus on hitting the time. Really happy with it. This workout will be a great benefit in a couple weeks.
Tue, 24 Sep 2019 06:00:00 Mon, Sep 23, 2019 http://connorballer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-23-2019.html
AM: Was in the middle of a hospital loop when my boy Cox came along so I ran with him and it was a great time.

PM: Ran to Beus and some guys went on this short path that I never knew was there. It went out into neighborhoods and started climbing. It went up close to Coach P's house and we went through the two little gates, hopped on a trail and pretty soon were running past Enve. Apparently, that's how the girls run to upper. I really liked all the climbing. I dropped down by the bathrooms and added on Pipe. Had a funny run-in with Liza and Lily. Love that place. 1 lap is a little over a mile so we do 4 miles and then a little extra to get back to the starting line where the water is. 90 sec rest. Then finish to 7 miles for me, 8 for the top group. The goal for the first 4.3 was 5:25 and we were a couple seconds faster than that. I felt soooo good. And it felt like everybody else in group B did too cuz we seemed really smooth. It felt like my heart rate wasn’t even elevated and the only thing that I was working was my legs. Took the quick break. Second set pace was see what you can do. I stayed at the same average which was good. Not only was it a good workout that helped build fitness and confidence and help down the road, but it was fun.
