I was not sure how I was going to feel because I didn't feel so great at Region. Warmed up and did some strides and my legs felt good. We started out and I was up in the front but I wanted to be more on the outside, but the gun went off again so we had to restart. The next time I had an even better start and up the hill I was right with the leaders. My first mile was 5:03 and I felt great. I started to feel a little tired on the hill after you go around the lake but I kept telling myself to stay with the guys around me. I was with Joe Simmons and some Davis guys coming around the pond with about 800 left and I wanted really bad to just slow down but I fought thru it. I had a family friend cheering where you cross the road with 150 meters left and it really got me going. Coltan Rimann and a Westlake guy were just ahead of me when we hit the track. This is where I threw in all I had left in the tank. I cruised in lane two and passed both of them. I almost caught Jacob Chase from AF but I was so happy. I ended in 10th place, second team all-state, and got 15:45, a huge PR and way faster than anything I thought I could do. I beat a handful of guys I had never beaten before. I received the final medal and ran the second fastest time at state, ever for Lehi. Thomas got 20th, and the team got 3rd behind AF and Davis. We had beaten Westlake by only five points. It was a great day.
