Good sleep. Breakfast. Got to the course and thanks to Mtn View and Westlake taking forever we missed the start of the girls race. But they did really good and got 4th in the combined large school open race. Warmed up 1.5 and did some stretches. The national anthem and introductions were sick. My heart was beating pretty fast but I wasn't gonna go out crazy.

I took it out slower the first mile and it was a 4:58 lol probably my fastest first mile all year. I was in like 60th place probably but I told myself not to panic and just start moving up so I did that and it was good. 2 mile split was 10:02. 3rd mile I think was the fastest of the 3. Passed Sage and Adam Haynes. Before the last turn for the finish I heard someone yell 27 so I told myself you gotta go if you wanna get a shirt. So I put everything I had into the last few hundred meters. Passed Joe right after the curve and Travis Feeny once we hit the grass. After the race I went over to the shade and sat down for a while. Then ol' Paul Roberts (got third this race, last year got 5th or something and ran at NXN) came over and helped me up and I told him how sick he is.

Time was 15:20. Same as state. When I was coming toward the finish I saw I was gonna be way close to it and tried to beat it. I didn't know if I had gotten the top 21 so I waited around til results and turns out I got 20th so I was really happy. I think I could have got a couple seconds faster if I went out harder the first mile cuz some of the guys were a whole 15 seconds ahead of me, but who knows if I would have had anything left in the tank. But it's over and I'm happy with the results. Most of the season I had the goal of getting top 21 and a shirt, as the race to closer I wanted a little better than that but I got the goal I had for a lot of the season and it was the best competition we were facing all year.

Said hey to Shelby Houlahan and said told her thanks for the follow back on insta. Team got 8th. We wished it could have been higher but other teams just ran really good. Overall I am really happy with how this season went. He had good showings at Bob Firman and region and then put it everything together at state which was awesome. I love my home boys that I get to spend every day with.

Barefoot cool down with Timp and AF and then LP. Ride home was sick finishing Star Wars and hanging with Julie Sumsion.

Congrats on the season and race. BTW your goal of a sub 3 hour marathon shouldn't be a problem for you cuz one of our JV guys (russell) got a 3:11 and he doesn't run more than like 40 miles a week.

Haha thanks Josh. Ya that's my goal for the first one, after that I want to get a lot faster

15:20 is wicked...one day id like to run that fast. I saw Josh mention a marathon in your future? Sub-3 shouldnt be hard for you, though distance is a different type of game than speed. Its all about pacing, be careful and sub 3 is definitely yours.

You were actually in 97th place at the first mile and like 42nd at the second so that's sick you got 20th. Coach used you as an example of how rad your race was. Good job dude

You are much too good of a runner to not know that it was your last mile that counted much more than your first. What you actually did was maintain pace when everyone else was dropping off, and then you went faster. Truly a great race.

Without even blinking I'd say if you were 10 seconds faster in your first mile, you wouldn't have been 20th. Maybe 40th at best.
