Recovery distance run today. We were supposed to be at 7 minute mile pace but I was feeling good and averaged 6:50's. We went to the gazebo and looped back by freedom and the junior high. Then me, @sirmatthewtodd, @dbrickasean, and @strrt went and got swole #swolemates

Shout out to the little junior high kid for yelling "put a shirt on you fatty's" (even tho I'm pretty sure I weight less than him) I hope you know that bullying is wrong, Matt went home and cried thanks to you #growup

Tomorrow we have a mile time trial, I am hoping for a PR, so sub 4:40. If someone goes out at a good pace then I can get it

Shout out to Sami Austin for bumping up the high mileage this week, she's up to 2 miles a day! #callherGarek

Shout out to Matt Todd, my homie. Coach Jamie was talking about some of the good performances from the meet and wasn't gonna talk about my 9:51, then he stepped up and reminded her, then he clapped for me really loud. Thanks Matt :)

Shout out to Sarah for putting me in her favorite blogs

Sorry for all the shout outs, I'm just really blessed #tooblessedtobestressed

Ran 4 miles and then had a mile time trial. I stayed relaxed the first three laps. Picked up the pace a little with 600 left, then a little more with 300 left. With 200 left I started sprinting as hard as I could and gained some ground on the other guys. I finished with a 4:40 so that ties my pr. I was on pace all my laps except the second. We ran way too slow and I didn't realize it. That was the difference between me getting a pr by a good margin and just tying it. I am really satisfied with it because I am already at my pr from last year and its only indoor. And its only been three days since my two mile at the oval, so hopefully that means good things in the future. Finished up 10 after that.

Mile warm up then 2x1000 3x800 4x400 on the track. It was at 2 mile pace with 90 second rest in between everything. My splits were 3:06, 3:07, 2:30, 2:28, 2:27, 70, 69, 68, 73. I felt crappy at the start, like everybody else, but then I felt better as we went on and I lead most of the workout. Since we have four hard speed days in a row we did low mileage today and will do high mileage on Saturday. After I did some hard core core with my homie Strrt.

Warmed up a mile, then ran a mile to the cemetery where we did a speed workout. It is a gradual hill and we did a 200 then a 400 and then a 200 with a little bit of active rest in between. This was one set and we did 4 sets. It was at goal indoor mile pace. Although the 400 was not a complete 400, it was a little short and then the second 200 route was not even close to a 200, it was probably 150. So my average times were 34, 63, and 23. But remember only the first 200 was right. But we ran them all fast and it was a good workout. After we finished our mileage at 7:15 pace. Tomorrow we have another speed workout. It's the one we did the last day of awesome week last year. It should be fun.

Another speed workout today. 4x400's at mile pace with 2 minutes rest in between. I hit 68, 67, 66, 66. Then 6x200's at 800 pace with 1 minute rest. I hit about 31 every time. Then 4x100 all out with 30 seconds rest. This week has been very hard. Almost a pr in the mile on Tuesday and then 3 days of speed in a row after that. I didn't have that much of a problem with this workout when we did it last year, but today I just felt so tired. This week has taken a toll on my body. (Jamie did say she modified it, so maybe she cut some rest or something, and it was a lot faster for sure cuz our goal paces are way different) Hahah after the last 100 my lungs felt like they were gonna collapse. But if I wanna run some crazy fast times in May I gotta be putting in some hard workouts, not all right now but you get what I mean. We finished up with 5 miles and the last 2 miles I had recovered and I felt pretty good. Then I went and benched with Strrt and did some core.

Then Stewart found a basketball and we wanted to play, but it was flat. Then I remembered Brady kept a ball in his locker and I knew the combo. So I grabbed the ball and Me, Stewart, and Michael played 21 for a good half hour. I'm gonna call this cardio and stuff cuz I was really working hard. They don't call me Connor BALLER for no reason, I was hitting jumpers like no tomorrow. I should change my Twitter name to LBJ.

10 miles tomorrow in the morning then I'm off to sweethearts! I have some shot blocks I'll take cuz imma get hecka turnt. I'm way excited for the distance challenge in a week, it's gonna be so fun! I don't think we are gonna run the 4x800 at simplot :( I'll still run but just not the 4x8. Speaking of the 4x8 if you haven't heard yet, my boys from Davis ran a U.S. #1 4x800 time of 7:49.59!!!!!! They ran at the new balance indoor meet in Idaho tonight. Holy cow is that fast or what! (And I thought our 8:21 was fast) shout out to them for always being good guys, they aren't cocky they just go out and work super hard.

Matt's been killing lately, hope he continues to kill it and kisses his date @TarynRoyall tomorrow night! I see you Matt ;)

Oh and thanks to all of you that look at my blog, I wouldn't have all those views without you! #connerimcomingforyou #chasing500monthlyviews

Today felt awesome, I am loving this weather, it makes it feel so much better. I ran out by eaglecrest elementary and then back on the bike trail. My average pace was 6:46. I saw Jamie when I was going over the overpass, so she knows I got in a run today.

Huge shout out to CONNER MANTZ!!!! He killed it today at the USATF junior somethings and took down THEE CERAKE GEBERKIDANE. He will now go to China for the World Junior Championships. Shout out to John Dressel because he got third and also qualified for World Juniors. These guys are so fast.

Katie Rainsberger and Lauren Gregory (who is only a sophomore) qualified on the girls side taking 5th and 6th

"Recovery" distance run at 6:50 average pace. Jamie prolly wanted us a little slower but whatevs. We went on the bike path trail rail road path thingy, none of us really know what it's called. We ran just passed the chasm and then back. It felt really good. Probably some kind of speed tomorrow. Thank you to Kneaders for sponsoring our run today. "There are no shortcuts on the extra mile" Go into Kneaders and get the 5 dollar all you can eat French toast it's awesome. After our run we went into the fitness center to do #MaxoutMonday and we were almost done. I had maxed out at 105, tying my PR. Matt was attempting 165 I think, something around there. He tried it once before and didn't make it. This time he was half way up or so, SUPER close to making it all the way up. His left arm was not as high as his other arm and we didn't have clamps on the end so the weights fell off the side. Ted freaking Taylor, the idiot Spanish teacher (please excuse my vulgor terms) who thinks he's hawt stuff and that he can boss us around when he has no authority, came over and proceeded to tell us that we were "jerking off" whatever that means, that we had no idea how to lift, that we were a danger to ourselves, and that Matt, Zach, me and Thomas could have all been seriously injured, when in fact Thomas and I were standing far enough away to be out of harms way. We were spotting each other and Zach was about to grab the bar. So he over reacted hard core. After all the bs, he kicked us out and said we can't lift in there anymore without a coach. I already thought he was a cocky piece of crap but now my hatred has increased. So yea idk how much lifting I'll be doing now, we'll see.

This week is gonna be sick, I'm planning on doing the 1600, 800, and 3200 at the Distance Challenge this Friday. If I am super tired after one of the first two i'll back out, but if I can survive all three than why not #YOLO!!!!!

Today the juniors signed up for senior year classes, so I had to be home early. So while the team did plyometrics, me and brady went and got 7 in. Brady is a senior he just had to back for wrestling. We ran by Sami's house and our average pace was 6:38. I still have 2 miles to go, so I'll do that later.

I did 2 miles around my house with my dog (Duke, he's a Greater Mountain Swiss) and it was pretty sick, it felt like 7:30 pace maybe.

Shout out to Thomas' dad Papa Heaps for having a fast running blog! I never knew he had one, so it was pretty fun to look at. Check it out in my favorite blogs. Oh ya and he hasn't really posted in like 3 years... whatevs

I added all the Sky View kids to my fav blogs cuz why not. And also Nick Hill from Pine View and Sage Ducote from Desert Hills because I have a shirt with the top 15 guys at state for xc 1A-5A on the back, and Nick and Sage's names are on it (11th and 7th place) so they deserve to be in my fav blogs. (and yes Garek your name is on there too #beast #4thplaceatstate #ballerstatus)

Shout out to Matt who has the second sickest blog of all time. I obviously win, then Matt comes in, his blog is pretty good, it gets me turnt up, and then Garek comes in at third, he str8 kills it (except for when I beat him in monthly views.... oh! haha jk garek i still love you homie, you could beat me in a race anyday) anyway he kills it so hard call him Joseph Stalin..... #historylesson

Mile warm up and then pick ups on the road. 1 min on, 1 min off 12 times. We did the fast part at about 4:55 and the off at a slow recovery pace. Each pick up, someone would do a quick stride during the fast part, and we would practice closing the gap. We ran on the Jordan River trail and finished our last pick up at 4 miles out, then turned back and finished 9 total. The way back I was at 6:57 avg.

Shout out to the ice bath I just took cuz it was frickin cold! Gotta get ready for my 1600 and 800 races this friday!

Race: Utah Distance Challenge (1 Miles) 00:04:31, Place overall: 17

Today was awesome. Got in about 10 minute warm up and then stretched and did some strides. I was in the second fastest heat of the 1600 with Sean and Thomas. There were a lot of guys in our heat so I just wanted to stay in the pack and settle into the pace and move my way up through out. Since there were so many people, guys would swing into lane 4 to try and pass so I would just scoot into lane 2 or 1, so I ran better than my 2 mile a couple weeks ago in that perspective. The pace felt good, in most my races I try to stay consistent in the middle laps, which I did really well tonight, and then kick hard. We picked it up with about 500 to go and I was in about 7th. Then with 300 to go I started really pushing to try and catch Thom and Sean and pretty much just kick it, and I actually had a good amount left in the tank. So I had a strong last lap and ended up 4th in my heat with a 9 second pr of 4:31! I ended up getting 17th overall and which is good. I felt super great about it because I almost completely skipped the 4:30's.  Sean and Thomas both pr'd with a 4:33 and 34.

I cooled down and  warmed up for then 800 haha at the same time. I did some strides and stretched before the 800 and I called that good. I hopped in the second fastest heat, which was 2:04, which was the time I ended up getting so that was cool. I was satisfied with my mile, so I just told myself to stay with the pack and then kick hard. I pretty much did that. Good first lap, then we started going with 300 left. With the straight away left I had Frazier Williamson -Davis a few meters ahead and then Chris Hughes -Woods Cross a few meters ahead of him. I tried to catch Frazier, and I did. So then I said catch Chris. I ran out of track and Chris got me by .04. When I had like 50 meters left I looked up at the timer and saw 1:57, and I thought to myself, dang, am I really going this fast? Well I finished with a 2:04, a 2 second pr from a relay, but if you only count open 800's its a 6 second pr! I got 17th place overall, the same place as the mile. It was good that I went in a fast heat so the other guys made it a lot easier for me to get a good time. I am running the 3200 at simplot with Thom and it should be super fun. Making it to Finals is my goal! I am remarkably good shape right now so every meet I get more and more excited for outdoor, great things to come

Shout out to Sean for killing the 2 mile! He ran a pr of 4:33 in the mile and then only an hour later he ran a 9:48-9:49 in the 2 mile! Call him Cam Levins dude! #doubledouble

Today felt great. When me and @sirmatthewtodd started my legs were kinda tired, as they should be, but they warmed up after the first few miles. I warmed up 1.5 then we went out 4.75. We ran past freedom and ran straight down the road till we turned back. When we turned around we realized that we were going a 7 minute pace and that we both felt really good. On the way back we dropped it to a 6:50 and we actually never stopped after our warm up. I finished with 11 miles at 6:55 mile average.

After the run, me and matt drove straight to Strrt's church to play church ball with him because it was only Me, Matt, Strrt, and Brady. We lost by 4 points but I thought that was really good for only having 4 players and the other team had 7. We ran alot during the game so I could say I got 12 today

I will be running the 3200 with Thomas at Simplot on thursday, I'm way excited!

Shout out to Conner Mantz cuz he commented on my post from yesterday and said good job (go check it out) if he wants he could be an honorary member of team pre

My legs were feeling really tight during the warm up, after stretching a lot they felt better. I ran up killers and by eaglecrest. At 5.5 my IT band started hurting so I stopped and stretched. Went a little farther and had to stop again. This went on for a while and it never stopped hurting. So the last mile I had to walk half of it. I finished at 7.75

Me, Thomas, and Papa Heaps did a shake out run half way into our drive up. We did a mile and stretched out. When we got to Holt Arena, me and the twins did a mile around the track to get familiar with it. Then when it was time to warm up we did a mile warm up. I stretched out and my IT band felt fine. I did my strides right before we were gonna start and my spikes were slipping around everywhere. I had heard that it can be slippery but I didn't think much of it. Because of this I could accelerate very fast, so when the gun went off I was in last place.

I was in the second fastest heat. I was ranked 11th out of the 18 people in the heat, but the faster times were 18 so I had the 8th fastest time in the heat. So I started out in last right behind Zac Jacklin. I knew that he was just getting warmed up and that he would move up, so for the first few laps I stayed behind him and we moved up together (before he started racing and beat me by 50 meters) I was at 4:50 first mile, so in the few laps after that my legs were tired, but they didn't hurt so that was good. The top 14 times in prelims qualify for finals on Saturday, so I kept telling myself, get top 5 in my heat and hope that the other heats dont have fast times. Well a little after the mile I was in a few people back of that, so I picked out a Davis kid who was a few seconds ahead of me and tried to catch him. I passed him and some other guys and tried to hold on as long as I could. You never know how many people in the other heats are gonna beat you, so I pushed the last 100 really hard and passed 2 guys right before the finish. It kinda suprised me because they weren't pushing it very much, all I know is I didn't want to be the guy that missed finals by 1 second, so I made sure I passed them. I finished 5th in my heat, which was exactly my goal! Zac got 9:39 and Alek Parsons also in my heat got 9:44. I got 9:48 which is a three second pr! And I qualified for finals on Saturday, so after the race I was freaking out I was so happy. I finished with the 9th fastest time in prelims, so I made it by 5 spots.

I will continue to ice and roll out and stuff so I feel good for finals and can hopefully set another pr. My goals for Saturday are 9:45 and dont get lapped by Elijah and Levi.

Shout out to my best homie Thomas Matthew Alma Heaps! He got a 4:33 in his mile and he also qualified for finals on Saturday!

Today was awesome. I did a shake out run the same place as thursday. Felt good. Warmed up and stretched and still felt good. Doing strides with guys like Elijah Armstrong and Zac Jacklin just got me super pumped for the race, I love running with fast guys because I know i can run fast times #respectallfearnone

Start was good, I wasn't going slow but was in last once again because it was the finals and the pack went out crazy fast. HUGE shout out to Chris Hughes. He is a good friend from Woods Cross and he was cheering me on every lap on the north side of the track. Every few laps he would yell "get me a guy" so i'd surge and pass somebody and it helped a lot. I moved a few spots by the mile and was at 4:47! So naturally in the next few laps I was getting tired but Bryce Ferguson from Davis was passing people so I went with him and hung right on his tail for most of the race and we moved well. I looked up at the clock on one of the laps and saw 6:30 and told myself just hold on for a little longer.

The atmosphere was crazy. Elijah and Levi were going for the meet record so they were hauling. The croud got into it and it helped me out alot, even tho I got lapped by them..... So I ended up passing Bryce with a few laps to go. With 200 left I started pushing really hard, I took a look behind me and no one was there, so I tried to catch all the guys I could. I passed a Bountiful kid and got sort of close to Camren Todd from Davis.

Finished 9:42.99 so I'll just round down and tell people 9:42 ;) Good race because it was on a 200 track and I set a pr just two days earlier. I got 8th place. A lot of guys did the mile but for a huge race like Simplot i thought 8th place was great. Sadly I got lapped but Elijah got 9:01 so not too disappointed. After the pr's I got I'm looking into qualifying for Arcadia this April, I sure hope i can make it, it would be so fun to run at. I'd do the 3200 and maybe we can get the 4x800 team to go!

Shout out to the 3 sophomores that beat me :( slow down.

Shout out to Thomas for getting 4:31 in the mile, a new PR!

Biggest shout out of all to Coach Jamie for being an amazing coach and helping us Lehi guys kill it.

Realized I didn't do shout out so I'm gonna add some. Shout out to Sarah! for getting a new pr at simplot.

Shout out to Garrett Barton a sophomore from Ogden that beat me at Simplot. He follows me on insta now and he told me good job after the race even tho he destroyed me so thanks dude.

Matt just looked up the world record for the oldest person to complete a marathon, and it said in August of 2014 Fauja Singh at 100 years old completed a marathon in Toronto. His time 8 hours 11 minutes and 6 seconds #rolemodelmonday I'm not sure if I will be able to beat that.....

I felt really good today. My legs didn't hurt and they felt fresh. I went just under a 7 minute mile average for the 10 miles. That is crazy because every run last week, with exception to the two simplot races, my leg hurt every run and I had to go like a 8:30 avg.

We ran to collins house, and then to the round about by the tennis courts and then turned back. Before we started we did 3x10 bench press. I did 65lbs, 75, and 85 for the three sets.

I just went and saw McFarland!!!! and it was the greatest movie I have ever seen! No joke, go see it, it's awesome!

Today was kinda suckish. We had a speedworkout that was 3X 200, 400, 200 The 200's were at 800 pace the 400 at mile pace. The wind was awful so I was slow on most of the repeats. On the way to get the rest of our miles we stopped at the rope swing in the creek. I went around the rope swing and on the second go-round, I got turned around and stuff and landed in the creek and got both my feet soaked. It was so dumb. And I still had 5 miles left, so for that last 5 miles my feet were soaked, my it band hurt, and the wind was blowing str8 at us. Worst run of my life. I'm glad its over now.
