Hey guys its good to be back! Lets make this last season a good one aight! 4 miles with Nathan Cook, Parker Hunt, Cameron, and Mason, some of the younger fellas. Had some aches and pain the first mile, came in with a 8:05 lol #blazing hopefully thats the only mile this season thats above 8 (not that 8 minute miles are bad) but stretched a lil and felt better. Finished up the 4 by trafalga, the twins, over the overpass. Weather was an 11 out of 10. 36 has never felt so good. Running is just awesome.

Went a mile over today because D'brickasean was in town!!! and we had a big group and stuff. Went up killers and turned left by the fire station. Felt good. The weather was super nice so I ran in shorts and no shirt. My hands got really cold but other than that it was just peachy. Saw all the Westlake gents embarking on their run on my way home.

Because of all the snow I did my morning run on the stationary bike and counted that for 3 miles. Then after school did 4 out to Olympic park with another mile to get to 9. On the way there we picked up a dog that would not leave us no matter what. It was a German Shepard police dog that we named Rusty. We stopped at Ryan's house and while there saw that it wasn't a boy even though we kept saying here boy or whatever. It was a girl and on her collar, her name was Bazil, but we ended up calling her Baezil. Well Baezil ran with us all the way to Olympic park and back to her house, a total of about 3.5 miles. We weren't sure exactly where she came from, so we went on this path to a neighborhood and house she was showing some interest in and knocked on the door. Turns out it was her house. Glad everything turned out well. I was sad to see her go after we gained a nice bond. We'll have to swing by there every once in a while and give her some excercise. 7:05ap.

Went home during 4th and slept for 3 hours. Then did 4 on Parkway. Did a 2 mile warm up at the oval. I waited too long to start my warm up so I got back and the first 2 or 3 heats had already ran. I was hoping to go in the second heat with Collin and we were gonna see who could run faster. So I hurried and got my xc spikes on lol and headed over to the line. The first heat I could go in was the 2:12 - 2:16 group :( yay. So I did a few stretches and off we went. First 300 was right up in the front. Then I decided that it was too slow and I would take the lead. Well this guy with the most disgusting pony tail ever, who was up there too, jumps right back into first and cuts me off. This is how most of the race would play out. He was one of those nubes who had to be in the lead and so I kept trying to go around him and he just kept cutting me off. With 200 meters left I had to slow down not to run into him, that's how easy the pace was, I passed him for good. He still didn't let me pass him clean tho so we got into an elbow match and I told him to get out of my way. In the last 200 I gapped him by 7 seconds, won the heat, and did the dab as I crossed the finish line. Even tho I was pissed off, it was a really good race. I didn't do any drills, I ran on the outside a bunch, I have xc spikes, I haven't done much speed, and I still ran faster than I was at the end of the season last year.

Didn't feel tired after the 8 so I hopped in the 2 mile and ran with Riley and Nug for a little tempo. Got 10:45. It was really fun and our pace was nice and consistent. Got some pics with the HJP and did 1.5 cool down.

We were a fast first mile and then after that I just didnt have that much gas in the tank, at least i thought. I didn't move up at all, little packs just formed and would move up and I couldn't go with them. Last couple laps the announcer and crowd was going hard for Garek who kicked trash and set the meet record, so I just kinda watched tv coming into my last lap smh. When I finished I didn't know what my time was cuz my watch got screwed up at the start. Did 2.5 mile cooldown with the guys and never went to look. Official time came out as 9:29.62 which was a huge suprise to me to be completely honest. I thought for sure it was slower than prelims. Dream mile and a half today which is always a fun time lol. 2 mile warm up. There was a head wind for the entire time so that made it tough, but I liked it cuz it builds character. Had a group of Ryan, Collin, Thomas and I until a lil before the mile I believe. First mile was 5:29. Going up the hill was good. I made a strong move with just a little bit of the hill to go. When I got to the top and it flattened out, the wind was like a wall and stopped us in our tracks. We were both struggling and dying but Ryan just a lil less. Finished second in an 8:32. I'll take it. Cool down to 8. Good stuff from everyone today.

Oh ya and happy leap day

Sorry Cam, just found this in my junk mail. It's flat for .25, moderate hill. Go down. Then a gradual uphill for a while. Then it goes to a massive ish hill and flattens out for a 100 meter sprint to the finish.

PM: 1 mile warm up. Strides. Workout was 5x500. First 400 at your 800 pace then kinda what you have left, sorta go all out if you can. I just held the pace for the last hundred. 6 minutes active rest. Splits were 59,59,61,59,59. For the first 2 just went behind Chris and Dylan, then they died the third one #sprinterprobs and so it was slow. After that went back to the right pace. Really happy with the workout. Was expecting it to be harder cuz it was last time we did it. 1 mile cool down.

Today was the infamous 20x400 to finish awesome week. Usual warm up and stuff. Started the first 5 backwards at 5k pace, hit 74's with 45 seconds rest. Then went the normal way. 2 mile pace, hit 68's with 1 min rest. Then current mile pace, hit 66's. 1:30 rest. Then faster than mile pace/whatever you can do and hit 63-64's and 60 for the last one. 2 minutes rest. Legs were definitely tired and heavy afterwards but I was in a lot better shape after the workout than I was last year.

As much I like to sleep in, waking up early and doing the workout makes it feel more legit and then we had breakfast after and it was just one of those days that you look back as one of your favorite days of the year and I'm really gonna miss working hard with the people I love. 2 mile cool down to 9.

Got up to Davis and it was a lil chilly but it got nice and never was that bad. I ran the mile first. 1.75 warm up and strides. I thought it was gonna be Garek, Talon, Colter and I but Garek and Colter scratched so it was just me and #talonhull pace. I tried to stay on him as long as I could. I managed 2 and a half-3/4 is laps till he got a nice gap on me and I just held on and kicked it in decently hard for 2nd. 4:25 was the time, I was hoping for better but it's the first mile race of the season. I know I'm gonna run great times #2blessed2bestressed

2 mile cool down and then I elevated my legs for 13 minutes and chilled. Was gonna do the open 8 but Asa's 4x8 team needed a spot, which is always a good time and I was gonna get more recovery because it was after the 2 mile in which Ryan and Thomas both ran awesome, so I switched to that. I ran the lead off leg and sat in third the first lap. Adam Wood from Herriman went into the lead and I went with him. Last hundred pulled up beside him and tried to pass, he responded and we passed off the baton side by side pretty much. I handed the baton off at about 2 minutes Jamie said, and crossed at about 2:02. She thinks if it was just an open, run thru the finish it would have been 2:01 to 2:01.5 so a respectable time. We ended up getting 4th place. Shout out to Collin for running around a 56 first lap lol. 1.5 cool down backwards around the track with Asa and Jake, then another 1.5 backwards with Papa Heaps cuz they gave me a ride home so I could finish my mileage. After went to pizza pie and it was a grand time.

We had a workout today and I didn't really want to do one but then me and Thom did a nice 5 mile warm up so that helped. The workout was 9x200. First 3 were at "slower than 800 pace" then 800 pace and faster than 800 pace. My watch could possibly be broken and I'm really sad about it cuz I love my watch. So I didn't really get the splits. It felt pretty good. I would have liked something longer. Cooldown to 10 in a freaking snow storm.

Ran to Willowcreek and told Madame Iverson that I got called to Paris but she wasn't that hyped and when I said she should help me remember my French before I left she just said go talk to my daughter in French. Then we ran back on state street and 2100 and got to 9 for the day. Stretched after with the basketball coaches who are also the math teachers and talked about how I bombed my test.

On the way to Mama Bears room I told Madame Magelby that I got called to Paris and she was much more excited for me. She gave me two French books with assignments and activities and stuff to brush up on, then she offered to give me some money for my mission, and to top it all off she gave me a French Book of Mormon! I was gonna go get one and now I don't have to so shout out to her.

Then in Mama Bears room I looked at the Arcadia heat sheets that came out today and guess what?! We made the INVITATIONAL of the 4xMile! It's Ryan, Thomas, Collin and I. (Our homies from lone peak will also be in this race :) then I made the seeded mile (but I'm gonna scratch this one) and the SEEDED 3200! (My boy Ryan is also in this race :) and then Aiden Reed from Montana that I know from Footlocker West and Simplot dm'd me and he's in the same race and said that a couple other kids from Simplot are in it too. It's gonna be awesome. Thomas made the rated heat of the 3200 and Michael and Austin made the open 3200 so Lehi will be well represented.

UVU invite this morning. Did a 2 mile warm up. It was a lil cold standing around but once you got warmed up it was fine and race was perfect. Was in the first heat withh a bunch of the homies from all the other meets. Casey went str8 into the lead and nobody went with him and he won the race by 10 seconds. I hit a 66 the first lap. Most of the other guys were about the same, the pack was tight because of the slower ish pace so I was in lane 2 for a lot of the race. I went with the pack for the next lil while, but they were gradually pulling away until I was in the back three. It felt like I was working hard to stay with them and then when they picked it up I wasn't strong enough to stay with them. When everybody kicked I stayed the same distance behind and didn't pass anybody so that was fun. Ran about a second slower than I did at Davis which isn't a great feeling, but you cant choose which time you get, you gotta go out and work for it. It's early in the season so it's no time to stress I just gotta keep training hard. Cooling down with the Lone Peak crew was chill as always.

PM: Wanted to do something after my race so I went over to Loch Lomond and did a half mile warm up and then a 2 mile tempo avg pace 5:24, and a half mile cool down.

Good attitude, what you want to do is reach towards a peak, not run yourself ragged.

I'd think that your goal would be to break 4:20. That's very doable. How's your closing speed? Can you close in a 60? Maybe a 62. 66s and a 62 will get you close.

Hit 65.1-32.3-64.1-30.3-63.5-30.4. Went in the early afternoon so it was hot, but not as hot as last night. I was gonna wear my spikes for the last one but my foot hurt on a couple of the reps so I kept the trainers. Cool down to 8.5

AM: 2 mile shake out by Morrison Park. If you guys ain't suckas and are cool with the Jack and want to watch the squad run, we will be throwing down in the 4xMile tonight at 10:48 Utah Time. Just go to Arcadiainvitational.org and they will be live streaming it.

PM: Arcadia Invitational 4x1600 meter. 1.25 warm up, got to 1.5 with the strides. We were the last team on the list in the invite so I don't know if that means we were supposed to be the slowest? But we were on the very outside of lane 9 so Ryan did his best to get in a decent position. He ran great, split a 4:25 and we think got 9th. Collin for the second meet in a row ran insanely good. He got a 4:23 high. Thomas went out hard in a 61, held on and ran really well in a 4:24 and got me the baton in 8th right behind two other teams.

I sat on them for the first lap, it was a 61 but didn't feel very fast. The second lap I could feel the pace slow but didn't want to pass them. Fricking Connor. That one was a slow 68. Third lap I passed them and obeyed Papa Heaps command of going after a green team a little ahead. I can't remember when I passed them but looking at Mama Heaps pictures I think it was with about 300 to go. Was kicking pretty good but then on the last 100 I saw a shadow coming up behind me and said freak no you are not gonna pass me. Held off the green jersey that was coming back up. Split on the website was 4:18.9. Happy with it but it could have been faster if I hadn't sit behind the teams on the second lap.

Not sure what place we finished. Someone thought we got 5th after and I just said let's watch the board cuz I wasn't sure and didn't want to get my hopes up. But we got 5th! I was so hyped! 5th at a meet like Arcadia is pretty sweet so shout out to the guys for killing it. And top 5 got medals too. I got one last year from my 3200 but that was just an open one, this time it's the legit invitational medal.

Shout out to the Twins for both running hard in the 3200 and to Timp and Lone Peak for getting top 10 in the 4x16 which is sick to have 3 Utah county teams in the top 10.

Race: Arcadia Invitational (1.988 Miles) 00:09:07, Place overall: 2
Total Distance

AM: 4 mile shake out with Papa Heaps and Thom with some strides at the end.

PM: Arcadia Invitational Seeded 3200 meter. Warmed up with Ryan. We got 2.5 which was really good. Felt ready to go. I planned on going out towards the back. I did. I figured the race would go out fast and I just wanted to work my way up. It didn't go out extremely slow but it was slower and then stayed pretty consistent over the entire race. And I did end up moving well in the race. It just all ended up coming in the last 400 mostly lol.

I wore my watch and lapped it each lap so I could have my splits. 68.9-70.1-70.8-68.9-70.1-69.0-68.3-didn't get that one but the Lone Peak coach had me at a 61 and my dad had me at a 61.03. So I finished with an official time of 9:07.59. My previous best was from this meet last year of 9:27 so it was a pr by about 20 seconds (19 and change if you want to get technical) Since it went out slower and Arcadia has so many entries so there are 30 guys in the race, it was super packed and I spent a ton of energy moving around from lane one to two. I was trying to stay on the inside but the other guys wouldn't stay in the same position, they kept cutting back and forth so I didn't want to get boxed in and cut off, it was weird. Another weird thing. At the 200 meter point on the track there was a giant puddle. It was wet everywhere else but there it was inches deep and everybody was soaked lol.

So um ya I just tried to stay consistent and keep with the pack. I think the big part of my race was in lap 7, I made a good surge to get in a better position for my final kick. And you can see it in my splits. The 7th lap was my second fastest according to my watch. So then with 400 to go, my mind was ready to throw down and start going it was just if my body would go with it. And thank goodness my legs felt great. A guy in an orange and black jersey I didn't know, he started moving so I latched onto him for the curve and then started moving. Got going really well on the back straight and passed a lot of the pack. With 200 meters to go I realized I went from like 4th to last a little earlier to 5th and top 5 get medals and a medal in the seeded would be so sick so I tried to not get passed. I went by both the Odgen kids and Dylan Scarsone my friend from footlocker and finished 2nd! It was better than I ever thought I could have done. With outdoor not having gone that great so far leading up it was the race I needed. And I know the times are fast cuz sea level, but compared to the competition we did awesome in the 4x16 and the 32 was great.

Shout out to Thomas for running an awesome 32 and getting 9:27, keeping up with what I did last year. Shout out to Ryan for doing alright I guess I'm the 32 ;) lol 9:14s aight for a sophomore haha

Shout out to Zerickson and Jamison who ran 9:09 and 9:12!!!! fricking heck, in the rated race.

Utah County Invite 800. Got there later than I thought I would so I did my warm up around the turf and got 1.5 which isn't the worst but I would have got more. I'm not really an 800 runner but I wanted to go run hard and see what I could get and try to surprise people. I got out good and led the race thru 250 til I let Heston Andersen and Joe Benson pass me. Came thru right at 60. Got the jittery nervous feeling when you start getting close to the finish and you start picking it up and are waiting for someone to really start going. That was with 300 to go. 200 left Heston left Joe and Chris passed me. I knew wanted a medal cuz that would be really impressive for me in the 800. I tried to go after Joe and was giving everything but my legs tied up super bad lol and I finished in fourth which still made me happy. Chris won with a mid 1:57, Heston got 1:57.99 and Joe got 1:59.5. I negative split and finished with a time of 1:59.8! First time breaking 2 and it was awesome. Except for my throat burned the worst it ever has in my life. Super excited tho for the next time I run it.

Didn't really cool down. I didn't get going til after the meet ended cuz we watched the 4x4 and stuff. Did 2 miles around the track while the PG guys were cleaning up. Then as you got faster you got more rest. First 2:30 then 2:45 then 3. First four at two seconds slower than mile pace. 67.7-68.8-68.6-67.6 Then current mile pace, I went for in between my sea level and altitude pr's 65.4-64.9-65.0-64.8 Then faster than mile pace 62.8-62.0-62.6-61.2.

It was a really fun workout cuz I like 400's, it was warm, and Ryan and Collin balled out at the end. In the words of my good friend Sage "good stuff from everybody today." We got almost a lap in between everything so it was a lot more mileage than I thought it would be. Cool down to 11 for the day.

Sunscreened up then did a 4 mile warm up before our workout of 2x200,800,400,200,200,200. It was a fun workout. 90 seconds and 4 minutes rest. Got some active rest mileage in. It was really hot today. It didn't negatively affect me as much as some of the other guys it seemed so that was good.

Average for the 200's was 29.9 which is 1:59.6 pace and my pr is 1:59.8 so very accurate pacing.

Average for the 400's was 65.0 #420blaze.

Average for the 800's was 2:14.9 right around 9 minute pace which is good.

It was one of those days where you hit everything right on and feel great and life is good. Cooldown to  9.5 for the day.

1600 at the BYU invite today. Got there and hung for a while. Got my bib and spikes ready which took longer than expected with some difficulty getting the spikes out but it was all good. Warmed up 1.75. Went to the bull pen. 2 strides by the line. Went off and was at the back but I didn't necessarily care because it was stacked. Came thru at 65 I think, then 2:11 which isn't horrible. I can't really remember a ton of the race. I mostly just went with the pack. Came thru 1200 and remember thinking I needed a 64 to qualify so somewhere around a 3:19. Need to be better the third lap. Had a good last lap and finished in 4:22.25 exactly a second faster than I ran last year. Which is somewhat disheartening because I really would have wanted to cut off more then just 1.0 second in a whole year of training but then I thought that at least I qualified and no matter what happens I get to run not one but two events at state in the hardest classification which is a great accomplishment that not a lot of people get and I am not injured so I am very blessed and the year isn't over so I still have a chance to run faster.

Ran 1.25 barefoot miles with Asa while they were doing some of the golden hour events we didn't care as much about. Watched the rest of the meet which was sick with all the amazing performances. Drove back to Lehi and did 7.5 to finish up for the day.

Raced the 800 at Region 4 championships. Goal was qualify for state, don't care which way you do it just get there. 2 mile warm up. Legs felt aight. Race went out quick with 28ish and 58 and I was in about 5th of 6th. On the back straight I made a strong move into 3rd of 4th. With 200 to go Zack, Adam, and Josh were a few meters ahead of me and I knew that Matthew from Riverton was close behind. I swung into lane 3 on the last hundred and it was crazy. All four of us were side by side at one point. Zack had a crazy good hundred cuz Adam cut in early and so he had to slow and then swing around him and he still had the fastest last hundred. I was grinding but tried to keep it as efficient as possible and pulled ahead of Adam and Josh and ended up getting second. It was one of the funniest races I've been in. My time was a 1:57.85 so I came away with top 4 and the qualifying time. Really happy about it. I achieved my goal of qualifying for state so now I can run all three events at state and it's gonna be awesome and I'm sad I'm a senior and life goes by too fast.

State. Seems like just yesterday it was junior year state track. Last 1600 for a while. Warmed up 1.8. Race got underway and I got out good. Good position first lap. Then second lap I just didn't increase the pace so I slowed down a lot and ran a really average second lap. Went out the back door a lot. Third lap was better. Happy with the last lap. Good kick, moved up a few spots. Time was 4:21.03 just barely missed out on the 4:20's. Was ranked 14th, got 13th. Fun fact of the day: I ran the same time as Jaiden Melendrez, shout out to him for winning state. This year I didn't have a 1600 race come all the way together but it's whatevs and I just gotta go kill my other races. I know I'm more than two seconds better than last year.

I'm really excited for the 32 tomorrow it's gonna be awesome. Got my toe kicked and it hurt pretty bad so we'll see how it feels in the morning. 4 mile cool down with BJ on the sick trail from byu camp. Chilled, hung with PV, watched some races.

The 3200 meter was a crazy experience. It was raining like last year. Went out and stood under the tarp before the start. I'm happy with the race. I never faded. I moved up as the race went on but I could have moved up more or start out faster and stayed with the guys farther up. My laps were very consistent. 9th place aint bad tho. Time was slow cuz the conditions, wish it had been faster.

Cool down. Went home and came back for the 800. Just had fun with it. No stress. Got our good so I got to run in lane one most of the way. I think I was in fourth for a while and then I got passed on the turn. Came thru in fifth and 2:01 which is pretty good for me already racing 3 miles. Weird my last race was an 800 which I don't do often.

Holy crap it's all over. High school running was the best thing ever. I never thought in a million years it would mean this much to me when I was done. I made countless memories that I will look back on. I was so blessed these last few years. From my parents number one. They have done so much for me in coming to every single one of my races, buying me every pair of shoes and wanting so badly for me to do my best and wanting the best for me. Never could have done it without them. My coaches. I had the opportunity to have two great coaches in my career when some only get one or zero. They were so dedicated to their athletes in figuring out the best training plans and stuff, I was able to really go for my full potential because of their awesome coaching. First two years of xc and track there wasn't much talent around including me but then these last two years our team was killer and I never would have gotten close to where I am without those guys. I'm gonna miss them and working hard till we were dead with those guys. Thank you to everybody else, all the friends from different schools. I have been lucky enough to make friends from schools all around and I love the friendship that runners have towards each other. Summer is gonna be sick. I have a couple 10k's planned out. We are doing another Connor Baller Classic, a 5k race on the track at night under the lights. Rn we're thinking June 10th. I'll keep you updated its gonna be sick, everyone who wants to come is invited. Baller out

I'm so pissed off (excuse my language) I recruited a bunch of guys to run the CBC and I told them all June 10th. Then Jamie says that the school took forever to get back to her and it's being used the 10th. We book the track June 9th then and it's a guarantee that we'll have it then. So I go on Instagram and tell 1000 people it's June 9th. Well apparently there was a mix up in the schedule and the 9th is booked so they need us to do it the 10th! It's just a race but it's so annoying having to dm every person back and tell them sorry hope the 9th still works and now I have to post again and tell everyone it's the 10th and it's so freaking frustrating. So now it's the 10th and we are doing two heats, Open at 9 and Seeded at 9:30. But who knows, the school will probably tell us one day before that it was a mix up and we need to switch the date again.

Parked on Canterbury by the MCT. 5 out. Just a nice chill Saturday afternoon run. 6:58ap.

Watched track for over five hours lol. Was switching back and forth from GSW and the MCDC and then the California State Meet. Shout out to Julie Sumsion for taking second in the mile with a 5:10, Joe got second in the 3200. Isaac Cortes blew my mind winning the 1600 and 800. He had a 56 last lap and got 4:04. Then less than two hours later he ran against a fresh Connor Dunne in the 800. He was at the very back and then flew by everybody in the final 200 and won with a 1;50! Cooper Teare won the 3200 in a crazy race. He had a really good last lap but then this Great Oak guy, Cole Spencer comes flying up out of no where, they pull even, then Cole goes ahead by a little, Cooper responds and they came thru exactly alike and you couldn't tell who won. Well Cooper won in 8:51 by a couple thousandths of a second. It was insane. Destiny Collins got second in the 1600 and 3200 so shout out to her. I learned that Michael Norman isn't human. He ran 45.78 pulling up at the end saving for his 200, won in 20.5x i think. Then was the anchor of the 4x4. He  got it in fourth and made up 40 meters at least, it was insane. He went to the lead with 100 to go and gapped them, and even won by a decent margin splitting 44.9!

AM: Went to XC practice and ran 4.5 with the girls. After a mile a bunch of them turned around and it was Amelia and Gan left. We went towards the fishy park. Started at 8:09 and worked down to 7:28. Nice run, feeling good.

PM: CONNOR BALLER CLASSIC. After all the advertising and date changes it was finally here. At first the turnout out was very slim but then a decent amount of people showed up and it was really cool. We made 1 heat and went off just after 9:30. Josh Collins showed up and that helped out a lot. And yes this is the FL nats 11th place Josh Collins. Then Zerickson and Efisherf were there as well. I led the race til 500. First lap was 74. Then Josh took over. He slowly gapped me by 15 meters maybe over a few laps. Next splits were 72,71,73 so a 4:51 or so when you add the decimals.

Then second mile I just kinda stayed a little ways behind him but towards the end of the second mile I was actually closing just a tad. We started to hit a lil fituge 75,76,75,77 or a 5:05 when you add the decimals. Two mile split they announced was 9:56 I think. Third mile was hard. Definitely a long grueling race. 77,78,78. Those 78 are pretty unofficial because I forgot to lap it once so I got a 2:36 for an 800 but I hit it a few steps after the right spot.

Even tho I was running hecka slow now, Josh was getting pretty fatigued from leading and maybe being in shape but not amazing shape so with 3 laps to go I got right up on him and even passed him with 800 to go. Then 72. With 500 to go he passed me and said sorry lol. Back stretch 300 to go I knew I could go faster and I didn't necessarily care about the win I wanted a faster time. So I pulled almost ahead to show him I had more and to get him to go faster. He stayed a few steps ahead and on the last 100 gapped me a bit. 29ish last 200. Josh got 15:30.6 I got 15:31 and change. Watch had it as 3.25 but it always does that.

Wanted the time to be faster but I think I went out too fast. I would like to try the 5k on the track again before I leave and run faster than I did at NXR so 15:19 or faster which I know 100% I could do. I will be increasing my mileage so I will just taper and try to hit more 73s consistently. I have now got 2nd place in each CBC but there has been great talent so I am blessed. I ran 11 seconds faster than my previous best and Josh ran 11 seconds faster than Christian did for the new meet record so shout out to him. Shout out to Zack and Ethan and Brandon and Brayden and Adam and all the Herriman guys who came even tho they did an uphill 5k time trial this morning lol and to Alyssa Snyder and Julie Sumsion for coming. It wouldn't have been anything if people didn't show up. Thank you to everyone that came out and cheered too you definitely helped. Did a .25 mile cool down lol. Gonna try to hit that long run but I haven't got any sleep and won't have much time with the little kid track meet and my sisters wedding.

Set out about 11. Weather was bright and sunny with a slight breeze which was nice. I had my window open during the night and I remember it starting to pour so I closed it, Preston said there was some really loud thunder. I tried to find some trails and almost immediately found this path but it was less than a half mile long. But I kept going on it jus the opposite way and it started to remind me of the mct how it had a bunch of underpasses. After a little while it opened up into the desert and a really nice trail. The red sand was soft and the trail was nice and wide and not a lot of rocks. It was mostly uphill for the time that I ran out. Turned around at a little summit and my watch was at 3.25.

Coming back I saw a guy running and asked him what the trail was called so I could put where I ran on the blog. He said we were on grapevine and it went out 3 more miles or something and then you could get on prospector which went 15 miles longer. And he said that he was heading to run on the Dino cliffs and those looked way sick. Came back and I couldn't find where I had hopped on the trail. There were some different turns offs but none of them were where I got on. But the way I found it was weird. So I just took the one that looked like the main way and ran down. Got onto a road and shortly away was I-15 and I could find my way to the condo from there thankfully. Finished with 6.5. We were gonna go somewhere after I got back and they wanted to leave in an hour so I was coming back fast trying not to hold them up so my last full mile was 6:16 and then 5:35 pace for the last .67 but I said .5 cuz I walked a little while I was trying to find which way it was. When I got back it was 84 degrees, not 105 so #blessed

Hiked Angels Landing and it was super sick. Really glad I didn't die. Reeves and I ran up Willies wiggles or whatever they are called. My legs are so tired. Jumped in the river at the bottom which was amazing. Went and played basketball with Hell Raiser. It was fun, some of the guys were tools.

Sorry to the PV guys for having to deal with me two days in a row. Ran over to the elementary to get more miles in. It was 2.6 7:15ap. Then my watch was pretty much dead. For practice we ran on lower grapevine. I'm jealous they get to run on these sick trails. It was flat for a while but then had a long gradual climb. 7.3ish miles. Got back and hung for a little bit. Said my goodbyes. I may or may not have shed a tear. Ran back to the condo to get to 12.5 for the day. Leaving St George today :'( this has been an awesome trip.

Total Distance

Got up to Ethan's house. Chilled. Decorated the car. Went over to usu. 1 mile warm up with Adam Wood. At the start they hyped us up a ton and so everyone had a bunch of adrenaline. It wasn't a great combo cuz it was uphill for the first two miles so pretty much everyone went out hard and then died a lil. I was pretty tired but I think I held on pretty well.

It was uphill on road then to trail and then steep downhill on the trail and flattened out on the road. I was in 5th place just a little behind the Collin Dinning Project. Then at the end of the downhill I passed him and ended up gapping him by about 20-30 seconds maybe. My average pace ended up 6:02. I wanted it to be sub 6 but I was slow in the middle from the uphill. Splits were 6:07,6:53,5:49,5:34,5:52,6:06,5:30 pace for the last half mile. Passed off in 4th place. It was Reebok, BYU, Jaybird but after leg 6 it was Jaybird BYU Reebok. 1 mile cooldown. We are chilling at Addys house. My next leg is 8.6 or something like that. It's gonna go down around 11pm. So hyped.

So I started my leg at 11:11🌟💫. Sorry to Cam cuz he had to wait for me to show up so we lost a mile. I started at Snowbasin resort and climbed on a trail for one mile. It was 7:22. Then it was downhill for 7.6. My splits were 5:35,5:20,5:32,5:36,5:21,5:26,5:26,5:25 pace for the .6. It was so lonely. We started catching up to teams that started at 11:30. I got two kills. And saw the occasional car. Temps were so nice. Passed of the Ethan. After our legs we went to NS and I got 2 and a half hours of sleep.

Woke up and was running a couple minutes later which was really fun. Started about 5am. It was pretty chilly but I just ran in a shirt. No warm up. First mile was a 6:24,5:58,5:47,and 5:40 pace for the last .86. It was supposed to be 4 but I got it a little short. 5:59ap. I was counting my kills. I got about 10 every mile, and then the last mile was twice as packed and I finished with 51 kills. And just like that my legs were over. Finished our legs. We were catching up to the Lehi team so saw them, the other HJP Van. Went to Soldier Hollow and chilled. We finished 5th overall, the first team not with college kids and adults. BYU lost an hour with wrong turns and still beat us. We broke 21 and got 20:58.31. Good stuff from all the guys. It was a really fun time and I definitely want to do a Ragnar again, and an Ultra sometime. But my legs are wrecked so not for a while. Hung around after and got some hats, a massage, pizza, it was a real good time.

Ran 3 miles with Zack towards the creek and then a barefoot mile. Ice bath after but my legs are still wrecked.

Total Distance
18.25

AF Canyon 10k this morning but it turned into a progression tempo. Did a 3.25 mile warm up. Was feeling good. Got in two semi strides. Race started and I quickly realized there wasn't that much competition. Gabe Prettypaint came up on my side and we talked for a little bit. He lead the first mile and I decided to just sit in the pack. It felt like a distance run and was 6:17 on my watch. Where their mile mark was posted was .92 on my watch and it got gradually farther from the mile. Took the lead after the mile. My dad and Bennett were on their run and came over to the course and gave me a high five. 6:08,5:54,5:43,5:27. Started working harder. With a mile to go we connected with the 5k runners so I had to weave a tiny bit but it gave me someone to run by and try to get kills. Last mile was a 5:08. Had a lot left in the tank when I came in. I was rocking the Lehi jersey #lod so people still know Lehi kills it.

Time was 34:54 for 6.08 on my watch. Second place was a 30 year old with a 36:03 and third place was a kid who moved here from Cali last year and ran for Westlake for one year before graduating and he got 37:20. 1st place won an over night hotel stay/movie tickets and second and third got $100 gift cards to Altra. I'm giving the hotel stay to my parents and they are gonna buy me a pair of shoes. Talked to Sean Hagert who ran the half. He is a stud. He beat his time from last year by over two minutes and they made the course harder. He got third and 1:14:54, his first 10k wasn't that much slower than mine but it was very downhill. Matt Paulsen got second in 1:11. Emily Barrett (Chicken Nuggets sis) got second in the half off not much training after resting from her win in the Ogden Marathon. Did a 3.5 mile cool down with her afterward.

PM: Did a night run with Spencer and Zack. We ran by the rodeo grounds and used stopped at Asa's house and talked with his mom. Found a tennis ball and we were throwing it around for the remainder of the run and it was sick. Came back, added on a little then went on main. Then did a mile and a half barefoot on the turf for 5.5 for the run and 18.25 for the day

The first three miles to Highland Glen park I didn't feel good and I thought I was in for a not so good run but after some water and stretching I felt really good. I stopped at most of the drinking fountains. Hit the big red barn at 7 out. When I turned around at 8 it was at Grovestreet or something like that. Not sure if that's the one the HS is on. With one more mile my avg was 6:45 and I thought it would be cool to have it below that. I was pretty tired so I thought I was gonna have to put a lot of effort into it to get it below that so I pushed hard and it turned out to be a 6:19.

2 mile warm up with a pair of strides. A bunch of sick people were doing the race so it was cool to hang with them on the start line for a little bit. First mile was slight uphill and then some of the downhill by the stadium. 5:29. Was with the Riding Twins and Thom. Second mile was the most downhill 5:12. Went down and got on University Avenue and it was super sick. They had the entire road open and there were people lining both sides cheering. Made a move and seperated from that group. Third mile 5:16. Fourth mile passed two guys and just tried to grind and make up some time on Galen. 5:23. Now we went up the incline to the u turn. Was less than 10 seconds from Galen. Turned right and started the gradual incline to the finish. Fifth mile 5:32. I could see up ahead that you took a right and that we were getting close. One guy said it was just around the corner and give it everything you got. Took his advice and started almost sprinting. Passed Galen and tried to hold on til the finish. Sixth mile 5:35. Sub 5 pace the last .13. According to the clock I came in just before 33 but official time was 33:03. 7th overall and 1st in my age division. Very happy with the race. I felt like I went out hard but not too hard and moved up well through out the race. I loved the course. It is awesome especially running down university. I'm definitely doing this race every year after I get back.

Was getting my safety and emissions done in Orem so on the way back I stopped at PG high and did my run. I attempted to run Molly's. I knew where to go at first and then couldn't completely remember where to go so I had to run up a few hilly streets before finding the right one. I think I had to run up farther to the trail than I did last time because it seemed more difficult to get up to and last time I had even raced an 800 before it.

Got to the top and the view was nice. Then went farther out to add on. It was all down so I had to climb it on the way back. Coming back I started to get really tired and it didn't help it was the middle of the day. Around here I realized it wasn't my best decision doing a trail run the day after racing but whatevs, overall it was a good time.

Wanted to do a track workout so I went over to the high school. Not long into my warm-up I saw Ryan and did 4 miles with him. Haven't seen him in a while so it was nice to catch up. Workout was 6x800 with a lap and 2:30 rest. I was going to try to run them at 2mile pace (2:22) but I quickly realized that I have lost a lot of my track speed. First lap of the first one I was very slow so I pushed hard to catch up and got 2:23. Next one ran more even, didn't push the second lap as much and got 2:26. So I just thought whatever just try and get around there for the rest. Do what you can. So then I got 2:27, 2:27, 2:28, 2:27. Wasn't as fast as I thought it would be but I gave a strong effort and didn't give up in my first track workout in a long time. Cooldown three miles, one backwards on the track then two on the roads to get to 11.5 for the day. Shout out to my mom for coming with and putting in some work today as well. I showed her the spring after and she iced a little bit.

Happy Birthday to my good buddy Dalpal

Failed to mention in my blog yesterday that Clayson Shumway or @runawayshumaway on Twitter was at Jamison's yesterday. He's a fast ex Lone Peak guy. Started with Thomas, Sami, Josh, and the new guy from Cali I think James is his name, but then they split off and it was Dallin and I. We crossed Timp Highway and ran up the path that goes up the mountain that I've wanted to run on since track. Asa and Josh ran on it one time but I had less miles cuz it was around state so I didn't do it. We got up to the top kinda and it curved so we followed it and it kept going and turned into a nice trail. We finished our 4.5 out and turned back. We decided to call it the Jail Trail. Got back and I wanted to do some more miles cuz I thought the night run I was doing tonight was tomorrow for some reason but it's all Gucci. Ran a half mile over to the groval, did a mile barefoot and back.

1.75 warm up from the creek to the MCT by Jimmie Johns, where we ran by yesterday. Got a bloody nose that was sick. Once that was taken care of a little more running and strides over to about Josh's house. In honor of BYU camp being this week I did the workout we did each time at Kawanis. 1on/off 2on/off up to 5 and then back down.

1:00-.21 2:01-.39 3:09-.59 4:00-.69 5:02-.90 4:00-.69 3:02-.52 2:01-.39 1:00-.20. Normally you don't take a break after 5 but I did. Did it on Murdock so it would be flat but I forgot about the dip by Smiths so I hit that on the first 4min. After 5 I turned around then went towards Airport. Finished the 1min right in front of Thoms. Jogged a lil and then got water there and finished back to the creek and 12 for the day.

If you add up all of them it was 25:12- 4.58 which is 5:30 mile pace so it was good.

2 mile warm up and some strides. Then did the 1.5 mile race with the guys. The best name they have rn is Skyrim so that's what I'm calling it (everybody else is calling it the kicker lol so dumb) Was sitting behind a couple guys when we came thru a half mile and I felt like we weren't going fast enough. I surged to the front and up the hill by buttscratchs house. Pushed the long hill and felt good. Tryed to push the last half mile, it was all flat so it was kinda hard to pace. Came thru in 7:59. I'm gonna try to run it one more time before I leave cuz I know I can run 5+ seconds faster. Went over to Skyridge and played some soccer then ran back.

A couple miles and then some speed changes and strides. We did the 6 minute test one of my favorite workouts. My previous best was 2,045 meters. I wanted to PR and also lead from the gun. First lap came thru in 70. Perf. Second lap came thru in 2:22-2:23 and Collin lead a little bit. Can't remember the 1200 split. I think we came thru the mile in 4:45. Faster than the 4:52 or 53 I came thru last time. Ryan was now leading. He had a couple seconds on me the fifth lap and I never closed it. Came thru 5 laps with 10 seconds left I think. Got 70 meters. Pleased with it. I could have done a better job of fighting more on the fifth lap.

Cooled down some on the grass then towards Smiths and drove back.

Stayed at my cousin Bryn's house the night before which is just a couple minutes from the start line so that was nice. About two miles warm up, then stretches and strides and then some more jogging. Very fun to see a bunch of people from lots of different teams.

First mile I ran side by side with Frazier and talked to my boy Dave Taylor for a sec. 4:46. Made a move up to Adam, shortly followed by Seth coming up and we ran in a good pack for two more miles I think. 5:01, 5:13. Ryan then joined the group and it was a 2 on 2 Region 4 showdown. 5:10, 5:10. Seth then dropped, I was very impressed with his race. Towards the end Ryan gapped Adam and I and then I made a surge and gapped Adam and it stayed like that til the finish. My 6th mile was 5:18 and 5:22 pace for the last .22. I wish that was a little stronger but 5:08 pace is a good showing and I am happy with the work I put in because I had these races but I also leave soon so I could have been lazy and made excuses.

After the race I found Garek and we drove over to Park City High School. Cool place. First time there. We went on a run with 2x Nike Nationals qualifier (bae goals) Alyssa Snyder and let me tell you she does not play around. She was running 15 miles. We got there late so she did two before we got there. So she is warmed up and I was super tight and my legs were thrashed from the race and car ride so we start and she blazes out and leaves me in the dust lol. We had to climb this super steep road to get to the trail and it was short but it was the most steep hill I've ever run and I thought I was going to die. The trail was flat but they still ran way faster than me and had to stop and wait for me a couple times. We got off the trail and ran on the rail trail for a lil and looped back to the hs for 7 total. It  was exhausting but it was a super fun time. 16 total for the day. Capped it off by hanging with the bavis dabes and skootz.

We ran over to discovery and saw these three girls. I told them to follow me on insta. We were over by the drinking fountain for a couple minutes and they yell over Connor Baller I followed you lol. Race: Skyrim (1.5 Miles) 00:07:58
Total Distance

Sick day with the boys. So I started off with like a mile and a half warm up for the Skyrim. Only Asa, Landon, and I and some other people trying to qualify for camp were the ones actually racing it. I had Austin help pace/motivate me on his bike. I didn't have my watch so I was wearing Austins but sadly since he has a 620 instead of a 220 I didnt know how to work it and I told the freaking lady assistant coach to hold up cuz my watch wasn't ready but she started anyways and I didn't get a great head start. The start felt faster than last time I ran it but I was all by myself this time not with the guys. So after I was done I realized it wasn't as fast. Going up the hills I felt really strong and thanks to Austin and his motivational words to me my kick was good. It felt like I kicked a lot better this time. Came thru and my time was 7:59 but I didn't start immediatley cuz I was trying to get the watch set, so I'm counting it as 7:58 and a new pr. Because I got pretty much the same time and I feel my kick was better, I must have started off slower than last time.

Got everyone together and we went and ran the Jail Trail. The one I ran with Dalpal for the first time just a little while ago. It was so sick. Some of the guys wimped out tho right before we got to it smh. We went the opposite way of when I went with Dallin. We stood on top of the dirt mounds. It was hard just going up that first road because its steep and I had already done the 1.5 thing. But then we decided we would run up to the telephone pole and evaluate what we wanted to do. So we ran up the even steeper trail to the pole and decided we want to go the next mountainess hill top. Then we bushwacked and trailblazed up to the next hill top. This is when Asa was getting pretty done and we were all tired as heck and wanted water. But somehow we convinced Asa to go the the last mountainess hill top with an even steeper trail up to it. It was one that was tough to run up without slipping cuz it was so steep. We slowly made our way up there and the view was amazing. It was tough but a super fun time with Asa, Landon, Parker, Big T, Thomas, and the Twins.

Made our way back and went and had a party in the spring. We jumped in a whole bunch of times as a farewell, at least a farewell for me. And then went backstage by the pumphouse and all this good stuff. After that went and played ball with the LP and PG homies. We had a super sick group of guys and we played for sooooooo long but it was super fun. Gonna miss all these good times.

Bonjour mes amis, everything is still going good. This week went by fast. I just got done playing soccer with our zone and it was really fun. Temple this morning awesome as usual. On Sunday I had a cool experience. At the temple walk I sang with our zone and it was cool but I didn't get to see any of my friends like last week. We were walking back from the temple walk and I had remembered that my homie Ethan Field was leaving the next day to Sacramento. I said a prayer that I could see him during dinner or something before he left. Two minutes after that, we were standing outside our class room and Ethan walks by and yells baller at me. It was so cool. I got another pic with him and we talked about sitting by each other at the devo and seeing the same movie afterwards. I ended up not seeing him at the devo and he went to 17 miracles and I hadn't seen Character of Christ yet and I really wanted to go to that so it ended up being the last time I saw him. I know it was just a little thing wanting to see one of my friends before he left but I'm thankful that God hears our prayers and blesses us with tender mercies. And Character of Christ by David A Bednar was amazing so if you haven't seen it yet I want you to watch it for FHE or something.

On Tuesday for the devo Bonnie L Oscarson came and she shared some awesome scriptures. Genesis 18:14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? Alma 26:27 Bear thy afflictions and I will give unto thee success. We watched the video of the currant bush and the Gardner by D Todd Christofferson and it talked about he sometimes we need to be cut down even if we don't think so.
This week we taught our new teacher Frere Call, or "Jose" twice and our teacher Soeur Hafen or "Celine" once and they were really good. Our French still isn't anywhere near fluent but we are getting a lot better.
Running since last email: Saturday 5.25, Monday 6, Tuesday 5.5, Wednesday7, Thursday 4.75. This morning after the temple Elder Frostad and I did a two mile tempo around the field. We said to be sub 6 the first mile and then go faster the second mile. Well I got the jitters from not running fast in a while and did a 5:29 first mile, then tried my best to negative split and got 5:27 the second mile, for a 10:57 lol I know its not that great but for no speed and trainers and grass I think its pretty good. I dont know if I said but the mile record was 4:39 and then Ethan shattered it and got 4:24! I dont even know how! Its .96 but still! I gotta attempt to beat it but its gonna be tough.
If any of you want to send me a letter my address is Elder Connor Arnell SEP 12 FRA-PAR 2005 N. 900 E. Unit 114 Provo, UT 84602. I'll be here for a few more weeks.
Love you guys have a great week! -Elder Arnell

Sorry for another email. I forgot to mention that we had our first TRC'S this week. You teach a volunteer that is a member so it's not as big and informative, more like a thought. Well Elder Ho and I didn't have that much planned and sometimes we don't communicate the best so we got into our first fight you could say but it wasn't that much of a fight just some frustration. In our first of two,  we were teaching a couple and it was going OK,  not great. We were talking about the BOM and then Elder Ho switched over to talking about the plan of salvation. He told them that his mom passed away when he was 7 which he hadn't even told me that before! And that because of the plan of salvation he knows she can be saved and he started crying hard core. Because of that I started tearing up a little bit. We were talking mostly in English by then but we didn't care cuz it was awesome. Our thought was all over kinda but it was OK. So I learned that Elder Ho's dad was a single parent while he was growing up. Crazy stuff. He's so cool. K peace out

Every missionaries dream is to leave the MTC. You can intentionally hurt yourself so you have to go see the doctor, or you can have a guy from Hong Kong as your comp and get invited to Temple Square. If someone is from really far away they can ride up to temple and get a tour. Elder Ho definitely wanted to do it cuz he has never been to the US and I definitely wanted to do it to get out of here lol. So we rode in a charter bus to frontrunner and rode that up to Salt Lake. So we stopped at the Lehi and AF stations and everything and it was soooooo weird seeing Pioneer Crossing and all this stuff I would drive by everyday, not having seen it for 3 weeks and knowing I wasn't gonna see it for pretty much two more years. At the Lehi Station, these two girls I recognized from high school got on and I said hi and they started to sit down next to Elder Ho and I and asked if they could. I just responded uuummm I'm not suuurrrreeeee. And so they moved. Awwwkkwward lol. We had a very short time so we couldn't see a lot of things, but we visited the Joseph Smith memorial building, the conference center, the tabernacle, the roof. It was all so sick. It was the most fun start to a day ever. Before today I  had taken 120 pictures, and just today I took 140 so I'll choose the best and get ready to be swarmed.

This week on Tuesday we hit our halfway mark so that means we would get a new district leader and I got asked to be it. I accepted and I'll be it for the rest of the MTC. It just means that I pick up the mail twice a day, lead the discussion after the tuesday devotional, and choose who prays.

On Sunday, Elder Ho and I had our lesson in priesthood on Enduring to the End. To say it was Str8 fire would be a major understatement. I'm surprised the entire room didn't get translated because of it. jk but everybody came up to us after ward and said that it was super good. The first counselor in the branch presidency was in there and at the end he said they had been greatly taught or something like that. It was really fun. Feel free to check out the scriptures we used:
Enduring to the End 2Nephi 31:20, D&C 10:69, 2Nephi 9:24, 3Nephi 27: 16-17, Matthew 10:22
Blessings for those who endure D&C 14:7, 1Nephi 13:37, 3Nephi 15:9,
D&C 24:8 and Alma 26:27
D&C 122:7-9 Joseph Smith Enduring in Carthage Jail

Running: Saturday 2.5, Tuesday 5.75 w 3mile tempo 6:20,6:03,5:49, Wendesday 4.25, Thursday 6 w 3x800 equal rest 2:31,2:32,2:31 (almost threw up after lol) There's a pull up bar outside my room, so I switch off days of doing pull ups, chin ups, and push ups. I didn't think it was possible for someone as buff as me to actually gain more muscle, but I testify that its happening.

Juan A Uceda of the 70 gave the Tuesday devotional. He was a convert in '72 and told us that you never know who you could be teaching the gospel too. He thanked our parents for sending us out which is definitely true in my life cuz my parents are day 1's #100emoji He talked for a long time on D&C 4:2 that we should serve with ALL of our heart might mind and strength.

MTC is still sick. Saw homies Danny Tumblin from Davis who I met at the byu xc camp. He's across the hall going to Milan Italy. And Gavin Harris from Lehi going to Benin and Togo Africa FRENCH speaking so we'll see each other a lot. Said goodbye to homie Asa Nielson #cryingemoji he's a stud and is gonna throw down in Minnesota.
Love all of you.

MTC .94 mile run today. Ran it with fellow district member Austin Frostad. He ran on the same team as Tanner Anderson in HS and ran XC in college. He led for the first 1000 meters maybe, helped push the pace, and then I took over with half a lap left and kicked. Didnt run faster than Ethan Fields 4:24 sadly but I'm really proud of the effort.

4.75 with Currie because he and Schulthess are here for exchanges. We got up early so we could do a long run. We ran over to the beach and then on the path towards Belgium. We went three out and took a stretch break. We had raclette last night which is baked potatos, various grilled deli meat, and slices of melted cheese. It's good but heavy in your stomach. On the way back Currie wasn't feeling so good and was going to throw up so we walked the last 1.25. Even tho we didn't get the full 6 miles it was still a nice longer run and there was a bunch of cool buildings I hadn't seen before.7:24

Temperature was good, strong wind from North to South. Quai was a little slick which made for slow u turns. Mile warm up, couple strides. Got out fast, slowed towards the end of the first mile6:01. When I do it again I'll go slower the first mile and try to run it more evenly. Second mile tried to keep pushing it so it wasn't a big drop from the first mile and it was good 6:10. Last mile just kept grinding trying to hold or go faster5:58. 3 mile 18:08. Didn't get my exact 5k but after estimating and calculations it was 18:45 give or take a few seconds. Decent. Good first try. Hopefully my next companion is OK with going outside in the morning so I can still run and try again soon. 4.25 total for the day.
